Custom SaaS development, secure from the first version
We build your own software product, from a first version for early customers to one that passes a large customer's security review. For health and other regulated data, the safeguards are part of the design from the first line.
// projects from $2,500, one fixed quote before we start
- you have a product idea and need a first version customers will pay for
- your product works but stalls at a large customer's security questionnaire
- you handle patient records, financial data or other sensitive information
- an early version was built fast, and now each new feature breaks something
- you need engineers who own the product from design to launch
- A product and architecture plan: the data, who may see what, and how the system grows
- The product itself, with accounts, roles, the core features, billing and an admin area
- Secure login, including two-factor authentication and single sign-on for business customers
- Audit logs that record who did what, and when
- Encrypted data, backups and a tested way to restore them
- Security documentation for customer questionnaires and your auditor
- Automated tests and a release process, so updates go out safely and often
Where software products stall
Most custom SaaS development starts with a good idea and a tight budget. The first version gets built quickly, which is fine until real customers arrive. Then the shortcuts show. Adding a feature breaks two others. One customer’s data turns up in another customer’s account, or very nearly does. A large prospect sends a long security questionnaire and asks about SOC 2 (an independent audit of how a company protects customer data) or, in healthcare, HIPAA (the US law that governs patient data). The deal waits while your team works out the answers.
Adding security to a product that wasn’t designed for it is slow and expensive. Careful engineering avoids most of that cost. The parts that are hard to change later are designed properly at the start, and everything else stays simple until you need more.
What we build
SaaS, short for software as a service, is software your customers use in the browser and usually pay for by subscription. We build the whole product, or take over one that’s already running.
- First versions. The core of your product: accounts, the few features that matter most, payments through a provider such as Stripe, and an admin area, on foundations designed to grow with you.
- Multi-tenant platforms. Multi-tenant means many customer companies share one system while each sees only its own data. We build that separation into the database, along with roles and permissions per company, team management, billing by seat or by usage, and the integrations your customers ask for.
- Products for regulated data. Software for patient records, financial data or personal data under GDPR (the EU privacy law), with access control, audit logs, encryption, rules for how long data is kept, and hosting in the right region.
- Security work on an existing product. Single sign-on (so a customer’s staff log in with their company account), two-factor login, permission reviews, audit logs and the documentation a security review asks for.
How we build security in
Access is decided on the server. Who can see which data is built into the database design and checked on the server for every request, never just hidden in the interface. Logins time out, every request has to prove who is making it, and every sensitive action is logged.
Compliance comes with evidence. HIPAA compliant software development and SOC 2 preparation both come down to safeguards you can show an auditor. We build to those requirements, keep a record of how each one is met and support your audit with logs and documentation from the system. Audit reports come from an independent firm you choose, and we make sure the system gives that firm what it needs.
Sensitive data stays protected during the build. We develop and test with realistic sample data, limit access to live systems to the people who need it, and sign NDAs before we see anything confidential.
Simple until it needs to be complex. A first version doesn’t need a large company’s infrastructure. We choose hosting and tools that fit your stage and can grow, and we point out which decisions are hard to reverse so you can make those with care.
Senior engineers build the product and review every line before it ships. AI-assisted tools speed up routine parts such as setup and tests, while the security decisions stay with people.
What SaaS development costs
SaaS development cost depends on what the product must do on the day it launches, and what can wait. We work that out with you in a free scoping call, write down what we’ll deliver and give you one fixed quote before any code is written. Projects start at $2,500, and the price only changes if the scope changes.
What makes a product bigger or smaller:
- the number of user roles, and how detailed the permissions are
- billing: a single plan, or seats, usage and invoices
- integrations with other software your customers use
- regulated data, which adds audit logs, encryption, retention rules and documentation
- whether we start fresh or take over existing code
A focused first version with one kind of user sits at the smaller end. A multi-tenant platform for regulated data, with single sign-on and audit support, is a larger build. To see each step from scoping to launch, read how we work.

Questions about software products.
Can you make our software HIPAA compliant?
We build the software to meet HIPAA's technical safeguards: access control, audit controls, data integrity, user authentication and secure transmission. Compliance also covers your policies, training and agreements, so it belongs to your organization as a whole. We document how the software meets each safeguard, so your compliance lead or auditor can check it. There is no official HIPAA certification for software.
Do you help with SOC 2?
SOC 2 is an audit of your company carried out by an independent firm, so no developer can hand it to you. We build the product to the controls the audit looks at, such as access, how code changes are reviewed, logging, backups and encryption, and support your audit with evidence from the system.
Should a first version include all this security work?
It should include the parts that are expensive to add later: how accounts and permissions work, how each customer's data is kept apart, and logging. Formal audit work can wait until a customer asks for it. We help you draw that line in the scoping call.
Can you take over a product another team started?
Yes. We begin with a review of the code, the hosting and the security setup, and tell you what's sound and what needs work before we quote. Sometimes that means fixing a few areas and sometimes rebuilding one part, and we explain which and why.
Tell us what you're building.
We'll come back with a clear plan and a fixed quote. No obligation, and no surprise invoices.
Thanks, we've got it.
A senior engineer will reply within one business day to set up a time to scope your project.
